Hi guys! I literally just stumbled upon the SteamPunk Fashion Australia brand yesterday, and now I can’t get it out of my head. No matter how much I scroll through, everything is so unusual: corsets, glasses with lenses, coats with brass details, even some crazy mechanisms on belts. These are not just clothes, but a whole image. But I have a question: is it really possible to wear this in everyday life? Well, not to work in the office, of course, but at least to some parties, exhibitions, photo shoots? And most importantly, how high-quality and comfortable is all this? I’m not one of those who like things « for photos », I want things to really live. Maybe someone has already bought from them? Share your impressions, I’m very interested, especially if you, like me, are a newbie in steampunk fashion.
I’ve been into steampunk for two years now, and it was https://steampunkfashion.com.au/ that gave me my first real immersion. Before that, I’d only read comics, looked at art, and envied people at themed festivals. Then I accidentally saw a guy wearing a vest with brass fittings and a massive watch on Instagram — he tagged the brand, and off we went. I’ll say this: yes, they make things that at first glance seem theatrical. But here’s the surprising thing — with all this decorativeness, much of their range can really be adapted for urban wear. For example, I have a long dark brown raincoat with bronze clasps — I wear it almost every day in the fall. People on the subway look at me, but not like I’m crazy, but rather with interest. If you like attention, you’ll like it. If not, choose more “calm” things, like leather accessories, mini-bags with gears or even hats with glasses that can be removed. As for the quality, it’s beyond praise. This is not Chinese cosplay. As a person who can tell cheap leatherette from real leather, I was pleasantly surprised. They have a lot of products made of real leather, heavy cotton, metal — yes, sometimes you can feel the weight, but it’s worth it. Once I bought a vest from them that survived three festivals, a bunch of trips and even rain in Brisbane — it’s still like new. Things don’t crumble, don’t tear, and threads don’t come loose.
I’m not as deep into the subject as Artem, but I once bought a set from them for a photo shoot – a coat with high shoulders, a monocle and leather gloves. The effect was simply wow. Even the photographer later asked for a link to the store. I’m not sure I’ll wear it every day, but as an idea for special occasions – it definitely works. Stylish and atmospheric, especially if you want to feel like someone from a Victorian novel with a dash of crazy science.
