i install loopbe monitor but is not working as on OSX
Hi!
I’m trying to communicate between iannix and Maxmsp. I can send osc from Iannix to Max but cannot do vice versa.
I think I made it correct in Max but nothing showed up or happened in Iannix.
`function onIncomingMessage(protocol, host, port, destination, values) {
if((protocol == « osc ») && (destination == « /iannix/stop » )) {
run(« stop »);
}
if((protocol == « osc ») && (destination == « /iannix/play » )) {
run(« play »);
}
}
I wrote these in the script. Anything wrong here?
Hi,
I am new to Iannix and I have many doubts but one of them is making me curious. As far as I know, Iannix only sends (and receives) messages from OSC, UDP, TCP or MIDI. But when I try the example scores (like Rosette), it is making sound. I think that the triggers are generating sound, but when I inspect the messages, it seems that it only sends OSC messages to port 57120 on host 127.0.0.1, but I don’t have any other program running on my computer expecting OSC on that port. What is happening? (I am using Windows 10).
Hi,
Yes you’re true, IanniX only sends/receives OSC messages, you need to plug your own synth/patch/visual effects… in an other software. That’s why we provide Max patch, Pd patch or Processing example to illustrate how IanniX can control theses software.
Dropping this here for others that stumble across this.
Iannix is available for Raspberry Pi http://raspbian.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/pool/main/i/iannix/
You can install it from the terminal with:
sudo apt install iannix
Tested running on Raspberry Pi 4 with pi-topOS (based on Raspbian Buster)
Yes, it’s possible. You need to »resample » your curve and give it a number of points then go to »edit points » and edit the XYZ of those points. This gives you the option to rotate a curve in 3D. But you need to have the values of the shape you wan if you want accuracy.
If you are talking about rotation in movement, then you have to give it as a message.
Hello,
I am looking to create triggers from a list of points coordinates that were generated in Python to a .csv file.
Could someone help me and explain me how I could achieve this in Iannix using the scripting panel?
Thank you very much.
Best,
Pablo
Hey. Me again.
I was trying some live twitch session at the beginning of the pandemic, to test my rig!
Seed live on Vimeo
It might be taken down at some point because of the music that was playing during the jam (Nine Inch Nails)
it is really in low res, sorry about that, still trying to figure out how to record my score moving on PC, as Spout isnt connectable and no Syphon… I’ll try with an acquisition card soon.
anyway.
hope you are still creative in these times.
Hi,
nice work and good to see that there are others out there using this great software and doing things.
Would you mind sharing information about your setup and the score? I am very interested.
All the best and keep on doing stuff like this!
Hey Christian!
I made some Max MSP tools to control the parameters, colors & transparencies, rotation & zoom. since the performance mode is broken and I needed to be able to see the colors and make changes at the same time. (performance mode in version .9.16 still works though).
So the math part is still done in Iannix but movement is created through the sequencer in Ableton, generating the values to M4L which sends it to Iannix. Since its made in the same software that generates the music, sound and visual movements can be linked at the « performance level » rather than one following the other (with the lag/latency that comes with it).
everything else is trial and errors haha

Hi.
Do you use Logic pro x as an instrument for Iannix? How do you make the connection? I want to trigger instruments in Logic using Iannix, but so far I have not been able to make them communicate, can you help me?
Greetings.
Hi there –
I wasn’t sure which topic to post this under – so I hope this is the right area..
I’m noticing that some SVG files import perfectly well into Iannix and others do not. Are there specific requirements for preparing an SVG suitable for Iannix?
Thanks.
Hi!
Each SVG element (a polyline, a curve…) will be a curve. So the more you have elements, the more you’ll have curves and cursors.
You may pre-process the SVG for grouping/merging shapes if you have too many curves.
Hi Iannix –
Thanks for the fast response..
I’m curious what determines an « element » for an SVG, though.
I generated this SVG, comprised of rows of linked diamonds, but it imports to Iannix as a single diamond.
https://github.com/blatrob/svgs/blob/main/output.svg
Also, where would you do the SVG processing to « merge » elements? Is that something that is possible within Iannix?
