    hello!

i would like to send a message or create some type of “trigger” event when two cursors collide – is such a thing possible in iannix?

    Hi there
I teach music and art and I am looking for easy tutorials for my students to get started with.
My students are between 16 and 19 years old.

Thanks for your work and help.

    Many greetings
    Marcus

Hi, maybe you can start with this “fork” project of IanniX, dedicated for children (your students are maybe too old for this, but it can explain the relationship between graphical scores and music) : https://synesthesie.buzzinglight.com/

Hello!, I have a desired feature that will help make ultra precise music as I do. Right now I have figured out how to select notes and move them by selecting them and then pressing shift and clicking on the score and then moving them with the arrow buttons or selecting them and move them by only pressing the arrow buttons, but I need to place several notes at once in space at certain points up to the millesimals, So as it is now I can put a sequence of notes by selecting them as I said before and placing them at 1.60 for example, but if I need to place them at 1.654 on purpose I am unable to, Could we add a shortcut to place a sequence of notes by centesimal and millesimal? whole number and decimal I could place anywhere now, but not centesimal and millesimal. Trying to place the notes with the mouse at a certain point is random and not specific and does not work all the time, so please, a shortcut for positive number, a shortcut for decimal, a shortcut for centesimal, and a shortcut for millesimal. Or maybe a scrolling feature that will pass through all the numbers, but still, a shortcut for each one would be perfect.

    Thank you so much.

For example, If I select 4 notes, one at x 0, another at x 1, another at x 2, and another at x 3, and would like to move them all .456 seconds on x, so first note at x .456, second note at x 1.456, third note at 2.456 and fourth at 3.456, I would like to achieve this by pressing a shortcut, maybe ctrl for positive number, shift for decimal, tab for centesimal and another shortcut for millesimal, btw all 4 notes would be moved by focusing on the first note.
    Thank you!

So if I select the 4 notes, I would move them all at once, not one by one.

    Hi there!

First post so : congrats on a really amazing and inspiring software!

i’m still a noob with Iannix so maybe i missed something, but :

i have the playback going glitchy and doing “pauses” or stutters… the consequence is of course glitchy cursors etc and so at the end : the data curves i retrieve , let’s say x or y, get corrupted and show some “steps” in consequence of this tiny pause/glitch in the playback.

I wondered if that could be a graphical or ressource thing but my computer is pretty powerful (i78600, 16go, gtx1060, win10)

and of course i need a smooth behavior!any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Hi Matt,
Can you send your score by email contact@iannix.org (or add a link to download it in this thread), it’ll be easier to detect what’s going wrong…
    Thanks!

    Hi!
Well this does happen with just dropping a circle with a cursor. But i still can save and send something if that could help, let me know.
Looks like the whole software is stuttering, as i can see the fps showing “4 fps” right after a drop (then goes back up). Another behavior of this bug is it makes the cursor jump and miss triggers. I hope i’m clear with my explanations ^^

I’ll be able to try on another computer in a couple of days to see if its config related.

Ok! I confirm, that’s not the normal behaviour. It should run @60fps even on a tiny computer. Have a try on another computer and tell us if you have a different behaviour.

Just a quick question for you guys! I want to make some of the curve I made available in FBX format, or at least to export the formulaes in a software that could talk to other rendering softwares. What would you recommand, if I wanted to “translate” what I do with Iannix into something else?

    Thank you!

    Hi Jerome!
Good question… FBX format is a proprietary and binary format, not sure it’s easy to translate from IanniX to this format.
If you don’t keep the equation formulaes and you sample the curves (Select the curve > Inspector > 3D > Resample) you may export all the points coordinates (copy the curve and paste in a text editor). It should be usable with a little processing in a 3D format like OBJ.

Hello again! A desired feature would be to add a Sine bank into Iannix, I´ve tested Iannix as an additive synthesizer with pure data, but it was tricky and difficult to do and a lot of problems came out and needed lots of help, and maybe you can do it better.
It is ideal to have 100 cents per second in Y or 1000, or 10000 notes between semitones in Y (a 1000 notes per second in Y), this way it is even and easy for music making and calculation(If i want a half tone plus 28 cents, i would put the note or curve at 1.28Y). One problem I had when testing was that the sine wave was still sounding when the triggers duration had ended or when the curve had ended.
I made this with OSC, and the way I mapped it was so that I got 128 notes on 128 seconds in Y, it is perfect this way for music making, and I got a pretty big sound range from bottom to top by stacking sinewaves with full volume at the lower notes and less volume at the top.
I hope you could integrate this because I still have unwanted sounds when playing with different sinewaves at different volumes.
    Thank you so much, Alejandro.
(It is perfect to have a semitone for each second in Y).

Also, It is neat to map the notes volume in Z dimension. Whether it is a trigger or a glissandi curve changing in z.

And maybe you could make it so that instead of stacking several curves to get sound from lowest to top, you would only need one curve/note.
