Just wanted to drop in and show off my latest experiment, I finally managed to get IanniX talking smoothly with Ableton and Processing at the same time! Been fiddling with it for weeks, and yeah, there were a few “why-is-nothing-triggering” moments. But honestly, once you see those little cursors glide and hear your synth respond it’s magic.

So the setup: I am using IanniX to drive granular textures inside Ableton. I’ve got 4 curves that loop asynchronously, each sending OSC to different sound layers. I also coded some visuals in Processing that react to the OSC data (basically, blobs that pulse with velocity). It’s simple but pretty mesmerizing once you get the sync right.

Funny story — I started this project because I was procrastinating on a totally unrelated case study writing help request I got from a friend (yeah, I do some academic ghostwriting on the side). I figured, “just a quick test in IanniX before bed,” and 4 hours later I was knee-deep in OSC routing and forgot what sleep was.

But here’s what I’ve learned so far:

Keep it modular. Start small, add one curve, one sound, test it. Then layer.

OSC debugging is your best friend. Wireshark saved me more than once.

Don’t chase perfection — IanniX feels more like improvising with logic than composing traditionally.

I am still figuring out ways to make visuals more reactive and less random. Anyone here synced IanniX with TouchDesigner before? Would love to see how others are combining sound + motion in live setups.

Anyway, just wanted to share this little win. If you’re stuck in that “I don’t know where to start” phase — trust me, open IanniX, draw a curve, and hit play. The rest kinda unfolds.
